After work last night was a bit strange. I was supposed to meet folks from work for dinner, but they did not get back to town until 9pm. Since I usually eat dinner at 3-4 pm on workdays, this kind of sucked for me. I slipped in a snack at 3 and another one at 6 to keep from glucose crashing. At 6 I was at 150 mg/dl, so I shot my second dose of NPH at that time rather than waiting for dinner. Obviously either my snack was suboptimal or my morning NPH / Glucophage™ one-two endocrine punch was wearing off, since the drugs are twice a day and I last dosed 13 hrs ago . . .
With the spike at 150 (OK, it's a spike by this week's standards . . .), I was really worried about getting out of control after dinner. It turns out that my worry was misplaced. Dinner was Mongolian BBQ: lean meats, veggies out the wazoo and very few carbs (except for the 1 cup of cooked rice, which is 1/3 cup uncooked or 1 carb) 3 bowls at a carb each and the rice (I left the egg rolls and wontons alone) made this a filling 4 carb meal. I came home and an hour after dinner I was back under 120 mg/dl.
One more work shift, then weekend. The guild's hitting Karazhan tonight, I think. Last chance for badge gear before Wrath comes out next week?
