I am actually feeling good after work, not like climbing into a hole.
Today I am on target for both carbs consumed (270 grams) and serum glucose (110 mg/dl) -- both readings right before dinner. My highest level of the latter was at 5am, 149 mg/dl, which is below threshold for a normal injection of insulin. I'm still shooting my long acting insulin later and taking the G'phage. I managed two snacks in there (as ordered by the doc) too. There was a mass all-office Potluck From Hell today; I opted for a one-man raid on teh Bar O' Salad instead.
Just to understand the scale: <> 350 mg/dl is hyperglycemic, call teh doctor.
I can do this.
This diet (2800 kcal/day) means I can and will lose weight. Weight loss reduces insulin resistance, which means the insulin I make in the Isles of Langerhans (I like that name; once upon a time there was a band by that name. I may name a place in Miresseia so . . .) of my very own pancreas works better. If I lose enough weight, resistance may become futile and the need to suplement my insulin pool from external sources with injectable potions may go away.
I do not think that this will cure the condition, just control it. There is no painless easy way.
