Daily Bloggery 2009-04-29: "Don't do PuGs, PuGs are BAD!" or "This raid is made of FAIL!"

SotR: SGL green, Legs healing nicely. Kaiser is broken because they had a fire there last week. Yolanda (one of the nurses who changes my dressings) is a 5'1" stack of raw awesome.

WoW: I never learn.
I never fscking learn.

Repeat after me: "Non-BOYD pick up group + Obsidian Sanctum-25 man + No fscking clue = BAD!FAIL!"

With a group that knows what it is doing, OS is a real quicky of a raid. It's the opposite of Naxxramas, which is a 4-8 hour endurance run, like Karazhan was, pre-Litch King.

This group, on the other hand, was by and large as clueless as George W. Bush. There is a time for caution when approaching encounters in a dungeon, and a time to charge in. They were ultra careful when they did not need to be, and incautious enough at times -- they twice pulled bosses when the group was. not. ready. The tank even pulled the "Leeeeeroy Jenkins" maneuver. One resulted in a wipe (on Sarthiron, this dungeon's big boss Loot PiƱata). One was a near-wipe on a mini-boss that we were lucky to avert. The healers were under-geared, and the raid leader simply did not know what he was doing, so people were dying who should not have died. Further, the raid leader would not listen to people who ran the place before successfully, and when the advice proved to be correct, the raid leader kicked out the offending player.
In spite of this wipe-a-palooza, we barely managed to down Sarth. I got no phat loots, but I skinned the corpse for lots of leather.

Gwenny and I did run heroic Anjol-Nerub, and all the bosses dropped right on cue. Again, no phat lewt, but I scored enough Badges of Heroism in the various heroics I've run with Other People for a Mirror of Truth. Nice trinket! Just six blue items left and I will be in full epics. Most of these are part of the Tier 7 set, of which I have one piece already.
