In Hoc Signo...WTF?

Back in the old days, they called this the Divine Right of Kings.

I thought our government gained it's legitimacy not from anyone's Invisible Cloud Being / Rainbow Unicorn / Noodly Appendage / Great Mother Goddess . . . from the consent of the governed!

Sic transit gloria America. It's stuff like this that makes me want to head to the hills and fort up behind the best firepower I can get. All the "legal" tools -- American versions of this one, a moldy oldie from 1933 -- are in place. All they need is one more mega-shot of fear, a Kristallnacht, then it's martial law time.

Perhaps this is how medieval hermits felt. The wars, the exploitation of peasant labor, the "You need our protection or the Evil Other Tribe will KILL YOU and EAT YOUR BABIES!" . . . the systematic destruction of economic opportunity for all but the Lords and Masters themselves, the lust for conquest, the racism, the "worship as Your Lord does or Else" drove them to the hills.

The clique in power today in the US wants to roll back more than just the New Deal. They are on track to roll back the American Revolution, the Enlightenment, and the Renaissance.
